he Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) in Kenya has kept diesel prices unchanged in its latest review, despite increases in petrol and kerosene prices. Specifically, the price of diesel remains at Ksh 171.58 per liter in Nairobi
The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has pushed upwards the prices of fuel products, again, in its latest monthly price review that has seen super petrol increase by Sh5.72 litre, diesel by Sh4.48 litre and Kerosene by Sh2.45 litre.
It essentially means that a liter of super petrol will for the next 30 days retail at Sh217.36 in Nairobi, diesel at Sh205.47 while kerosene will retail at Sh205.06.
The prices are inclusive of the 16 per cent Value Added Tax (VAT) in line with the provisions of the Finance Act 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2020 and the revised rates for excise duty adjusted for inflation as per Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020.
This is the second time pump prices have stayed above the Sh200 mark, after last month’s review bt the regulator that saw fuel products in September – October 2023 review – cross the Sh200 mark for the first time in the country’s history.
The immediate former Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria had hinted that the prices will keep increasing until February 2024.
Despite the increase, the government says it is using a Petroleum Development Levy (PDL) to cushion Kenyans.
