Sales of new vehicles in Brazil have climbed about 30 percent so far this month from the same period of March, the president of national carmakers group Anfavea, Luiz Moan, told journalists on Monday. Plunging sales to Argentina and weak domestic demand have rattled Brazil's auto industry, which is a key manufacturing base for global carmakers such as Italy's Fiat SpA, Germany's Volkswagen AG and U.S.-based General Motors Co and Ford Motor Co. New vehicle sales registered a surprise 9 per cent growth in January 2021 compared with the same month in 2020.
Figures by Motor Industry Association (KMIA) released Wednesday shows that the industry sold 858 units in January this year compared to 805 sold in the same month last year – signaling a gradual recovery in the sector that was harshly hit by the global pandemic.
New vehicle sales in Kenya dropped 14.6 percent last year, hit by a sluggish economy that was triggered by the coronavirus pandemic. The industry sold 11,086 vehicles in 2020, down from 12,981 in the previous year.
