Cargo Logistics company, Siginon Group has on Tuesday re-elected their Managing Director Meshack Kipturgo as a board member of the shippers Council of East Africa (SCEA).
With the re-election he will be serving for a period of 3 years in the SCEA body where he will represent the tea exporters industry in Kenya.
The Siginon boss said that the logistics industry plays a critical role towards nurturing international trade and contributing towards the growth of Kenya’s economy.
“The shippers’ council has greatly contributed to the positive business environment for importers, exporters and the relevant logistics service providers and I am delighted to serve another term in office” he said
The Shippers Council has embarked on a strategy for the period 2016 – 2020 that seeks to mobilize revenue for SCEAs advocacy work and for sustainability, enhance stakeholder value through advocating for improved efficiency in the logistics chain and reduction in the cost of transportation.
Kipturgo added that the strategy is meant to increase the competitiveness of shippers and re-engineer the council’s business processes enabling it to meet stakeholder’s expectations while developing sufficient human capital to fulfill its mandate.
The election also included appointment of Munir Thabit, Grain Industries Ltd, representing the Grain sector, Joyce Gathigi, Unilever, representing the manufacturing sector, Phyllis Wakiaga, Kenya Association of Manufacturers Secretariat, Genesio Mugo, Vivo Energy, for the Petroleum Sector, Kassim Mohamed, Bamburi Cement, representing the Cement Sector, Edward Mudibo, representing EATTA Secretariat, Hasit Shah, Sunripe Ltd, representing the Horticultural sector, Auni Bhaiji , Bollore Transport & Logistics, representing the Clearing & Forwarding sector and Vanessa Evans Rongai Workshop & Transpot, representing the transport sector.
The SCEA began in June 2006 as Kenya Shippers Council and transformed to Shippers Council of East Africa in 2013.
