China-Kenya trade and investment ties in the fashion, lifestyle and consumer-goods sectors are set for a fresh boost as nearly 120 companies from the two countries prepare to participate in the third edition of the East Africa (Kenya) Fashion Life Show in Nairobi.
The event will feature close to 100 Chinese companies from provinces including Hunan, Zhejiang, Shandong and Anhui, alongside about 20 Kenyan companies, reflecting growing interest in Kenya as a gateway to the wider East African market.
Organisers say the increased participation demonstrates the growing appetite for direct business engagement between Chinese manufacturers and African buyers, while positioning Nairobi as a potential regional base for international companies seeking to expand their consumer-products businesses.
The exhibition will showcase textiles and apparel, footwear, fashion accessories, household goods, home décor, gifts, beauty and personal care products, wigs and hair products, baby products, toys, home appliances, consumer electronics, lighting, watches and clocks.
Printing and packaging products will also feature, giving businesses across the fashion and consumer-goods value chain an opportunity to identify new suppliers, technologies and potential business partners.
The partnership between KNCCI and Afripeak Expo Kenya Ltd is expected to give the exhibition a stronger business and trade focus, while creating additional opportunities for Kenyan enterprises to connect with international markets.
KNCCI President Dr. Erick Rutto said the exhibition would provide Kenyan businesses with an important platform to showcase their products and establish connections with buyers, distributors, manufacturers and investors.
“This regional exhibition presents an exceptional opportunity for Kenyan businesses to showcase their products, connect with buyers, distributors, manufacturers and investors from Kenya, China and across the East African region, and explore new export and trade opportunities,” Dr. Rutto said.
He encouraged KNCCI members, particularly those in manufacturing, textiles, apparel, fashion, cosmetics, home décor and consumer goods, to participate in the exhibition.
“Through this partnership, KNCCI remains committed to promoting market access, strengthening international trade linkages, and creating sustainable growth opportunities for Kenyan enterprises,” he said.
Afripeak Expo Kenya says the Fashion Life Show has evolved beyond a conventional exhibition into a business platform connecting international manufacturers with African importers, distributors, wholesalers, retailers, e-commerce businesses and institutional buyers.
The 2025 edition attracted more than 70 exhibitors from Kenya and China, while Afripeak has developed a database of more than 35,000 professional buyers in Kenya and the wider East African region.
A major feature of the 2026 edition will be two specialised buyer-supplier matchmaking sessions focusing on watches and clocks, and home appliances and consumer electronics.
The sessions will enable selected manufacturers and suppliers to engage directly with Kenyan and regional importers, distributors, retailers, agents and professional buyers.
Organisers say the initiative is designed to move beyond product displays and generate concrete commercial opportunities through discussions on purchasing requirements, sourcing, distribution arrangements and long-term partnerships.
The 2026 edition will also give greater prominence to Kenya’s fashion industry, with local fashion design institutions and industry stakeholders expected to participate in a fashion showcase featuring contemporary apparel and emerging trends.
The initiative seeks to connect Kenyan designers with international manufacturers and suppliers of fabrics, accessories, garment production equipment, packaging and other supply-chain solutions.
Afripeak Managing Director Gao Wei said the growth of the exhibition demonstrated the demand for practical trade platforms connecting manufacturers directly with African buyers.
“The continued growth of the East Africa (Kenya) Fashion Life Show demonstrates the strong demand for practical trade platforms that connect manufacturers directly with African buyers and industry partners,” Gao said.
He said this year’s edition would place greater emphasis on targeted matchmaking, cooperation with Kenya’s fashion industry and long-term market development.
The exhibition comes as East Africa’s expanding population, urbanisation and changing consumer preferences drive demand for clothing, household products, electronics, beauty products and other lifestyle goods.
Organisers say direct engagement between international suppliers and local buyers will help manufacturers better understand East African consumer preferences, product standards, pricing and distribution requirements.
Beyond finished products, the China-Kenya engagement could open opportunities in product development, contract manufacturing, branding, technology, distribution and cross-border e-commerce.
For Kenyan enterprises, the exhibition offers opportunities to access new suppliers, technologies and international networks, while Chinese companies can gain first-hand insights into consumer demand and identify partnerships that could lead to longer-term investments.
Afripeak is also positioning Kenya as a potential regional base for companies seeking to establish distribution networks, warehousing, assembly, manufacturing, branding, e-commerce and after-sales services.
With Chinese manufacturers accounting for the bulk of foreign participation, the event is expected to provide another avenue for strengthening China-Kenya commercial relations while reinforcing Nairobi’s position as a regional hub for trade, distribution and investment.
The organisers expect the exhibition to generate new business opportunities for Kenyan enterprises and encourage greater international investment in the country’s fashion, lifestyle and consumer-goods sectors.
