CBA, KRA launch one-stop tax payment service

The Commercial Bank of Africa (CBA) in partnership with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has introduced a one-stop service that will allow ease of tax payments at the bank.

The launch comes in the wake of integration of CBA banking platform with KRA’s Common Cash Receipting System (CCRS) aimed at harmonizing payment procedures relating to customs, motor vehicle imports among other services.

The move will also encourage compliance in the payment of taxes. This is in addition to the already running Domestic and Kentrade payments capability CBA has been offering its customers.

CCRS has been in use since 2009 and enables taxpayers register their taxes and pay at any of the KRA appointed agents (CBA being one of the main agents)

“By paying your Customs taxes, Domestic taxes and Kentrade payments through CBA, you enjoy Real time update of your tax entries with KRA, Convenience as you can pay your taxes through our internet banking platform and any of our branches, efficiency and excellent customer service which CBA has been known for.

We aim to give you time for more! We are leveraging on technology and innovation to extend these positive attributes to not only those who bank with us, as well as those who do not,” said John Okulo, General Manager, Corporate and Transactional Banking, CBA Kenya

He said, “While we appreciate that the service will be used mostly by corporates and entrepreneurs, we recognise that there is huge and growing potential among individual customers who import vehicles and other items for their personal use, and would need to pay taxes in a convenient location like our branches and most importantly at the comfort of their desks though our Online Banking System”

The service is also open to CBA non-customers, and will be offered through bank’s Online Banking system across the country.

“We are glad to have CBA integrate their systems with ours to allow this convenient and efficient way to make payments. Payment of taxes needs not to be an inconvenient activity, and that is why we are constantly seeking partnerships of this nature to ensure that everyone fulfills their obligation,” said Lydia Ng’etu, KRA’s Assistant Manager in the Finance Division.
