XRP Healthcare Acquires Uganda’s Pharma Ville Pharmacy Chain

XRP Healthcare, a company focused on healthcare improvements, has acquired Pharma Ville, a well-established retail and wholesale pharmacy chain in Uganda.

 

The acquisition marks XRP Healthcare’s entry into Africa’s growing healthcare sector, setting the stage for efficient, technology-supported pharmaceutical distribution across the continent.

 

Pharma Ville operates two retail pharmacies and five wholesale distribution centers located throughout Uganda, improving access to medicines nationwide.

 

The acquisition enhances XRP Healthcare’s ability to manage pharmaceutical supply chains and grow its presence in Africa’s healthcare market. Shonubi Musoke & Co. Advocates, a leading Ugandan law firm partnered with Norton Rose Fulbright, advised XRP Healthcare, ensuring a smooth legal and regulatory process.

 

Pharma Ville plays an important role in Uganda’s healthcare system, working with the National Medical Stores (NMS) and Joint Medical Stores (JMS) to provide a steady supply of essential medicines. The acquisition includes 60 registered pharmaceutical products, 18 products ready for immediate sale, and 70 additional products awaiting regulatory approval.

Pharma Ville also has distribution agreements with eight global pharmaceutical suppliers, supporting its supply chain:
  • Toros Group (Switzerland) – Orthopedic supplies
  • Ascensia Switzerland (Germany) – Diabetic care solutions
  • Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd (Bangladesh) – Human drugs
  • Amanta Health Care Limited (India) – Intravenous fluids
  • Forans Latvia (Latvia) – Diabetic care products
  • Mediteks (Turkey) – Surgical equipment
  • Naari Pharma Pvt Limited (India) – Human drugs
  • Universal Corporation Limited (Kenya) – Human drugs
Richard Kitonsa (MPS), Founder and CEO of Pharma Ville, commented on the acquisition indicating that joining XRP Healthcare is a big step.

 

“We can now expand our operations, use new technologies, and better meet Uganda’s healthcare needs.”

 

Whitney Lynn, Chairman of XRP Healthcare, outlined the company’s goal noting that they want to make essential medicines more available and affordable.

 

Kain Roomes, CEO of XRP Healthcare, noted the potential in Uganda sayin that Uganda’s pharmaceutical system has room for improvement. 
“With Pharma Ville, we can make a quick difference—improving access to medicines and healthcare delivery.”
Laban Roomes, COO of XRP Healthcare, highlighted the preparation involved indicating that they have spent a lot of time in Uganda building the legal and operational systems needed to grow this business fast.
This will lead to lasting improvements in healthcare access.
Pharma Ville will receive immediate upgrades, including:
  • Better inventory management for supply chains
  • Updated licensing to offer more products
  • Improved distribution for wider coverage
  • Digital payments for easier transactions
  • New customer management systems
By Q4, Pharma Ville will rebrand as XRP Healthcare, aligning with the company’s focus on healthcare improvements. The XRPH AI app, a multilingual healthcare tool, is already part of Pharma Ville’s digital platform (www.pharmaville.ai).
It provides medical guidance in Luganda, Swahili, Kinyarwanda, French, and English. A future update will let users upload images of medical conditions for basic AI assessments, with referrals to healthcare professionals for serious cases.

 

Peter Waiswa, an advisor to UNICEF, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and now XRP Healthcare, praised the move indicating that the acquisition supports Uganda’s healthcare system, encourages economic growth, and brings in useful technology.

 

“It’s a strong step toward better healthcare access in Uganda.”

 

Africa’s healthcare market is expected to reach $259 billion by 2030, with digital health solutions, including AI tools, projected to grow to $16.6 billion. XRP Healthcare is positioned to take advantage of these trends. The company has trademarks registered in Uganda, the UAE, and the UK, with more registrations in progress, showing its focus on brand and innovation.

 

XRP Healthcare also mentioned a separate global announcement planned for this quarter, unrelated to its African expansion, hinting at larger goals for improving healthcare worldwide.
