Posta Kenya plans to set up a Sh30million Museum facility

The Postal Corporation of Kenya (PCK) popularly known as Posta, has announced plans to set up a local Museum Centre that will chronicle the country’s antiquity.

The state-owned corporation said it will use between Sh20million and Sh30million to build the facility in the next 12 months.

Speaking on the sidelines during the launch of the Big Four Agenda Stamps by the Corporation, Postmaster-General Dan Kagwe said in an interview with Financial Fortune Media that the move is meant to not only educate and inform the younger and upcoming generation of the country’s history, but also to act as a source of information center for individuals both local and foreigners keen to ‘revisit Kenya’s momentous journey.’

“We hope to have this facility in the next year or so and we will be spending about Sh20million to Sh30million to put it up. This will act as a reference point to Kenya’s history, dated back to heydays of the country’s founding father Mzee Jomo Kenyatta and what the country has transformed into today,” said Mr. Kagwe.

The Big Four Agenda stamps by Posta Kenya is a further testament meant to relay President Uhuru Kenyatta’s quest in delivering his promise on four fronts namely; food security, affordable housing, manufacturing growth and healthcare by end of his second and final term in office.

The government had at the beginning of the month (May 2019) through the Parliament announced an additional funding to the Big Four Agenda with a proposal to spend at least Sh450.9 billion to fund President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Big Four agenda in the next financial year, marking a Sh50 billion increase from the present fiscal year.

Treasury estimates for the year 2019/2020 tabled in Parliament early this month showed key drivers of the Big Four agenda will receive Sh76.7 billion while enablers will get Sh374.1 billion.
