Jonny Andersen has been appointed the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) effective immediately.
He was previously the Director of National Airports, responsible for seven state-owned airport hubs in Norway under Avinor AS, a state-owned firm that manages airports in the Scandinavian country.
Andersen brings on board a wide knowledge and experience in the aviation industry, and specifically running airport hubs across the world.
KAA Board Chair Julius Karangi said that he is a good fit for KAA with the expansion and modernization of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and as other aerodromes gains steam.
“The Selection process was rigorous with many interviews, PWC searched for both local and international talent to bring the best manager,” Karangi said.
Andersen has more than two decades of experience in managing airports in Norway, Denmark and Latvia in various capacities.
The Norwegian national holds a Master of Science degree in Air Transport Management from Cranfield University, UK, Bachelor of Business Administration in Logistics from BI Norwegian School of Management in Norway and other qualifications and accreditation from several aviation industry bodies across the world.
Andersen takes over from the acting Airports Authority head Yatich Kagungo.
