Longhorn to acquire 74 pc stake of Law Africa

Longhorn publisher is looking to acquire stake of 74 per cent stake in Law Africa, a legal & paralegal publishing giant in East Africa.

The publisher has raised Sh. 533 million from shareholders and is set for the acquisition.

“The company has on 9th June, 2016 entered into an agreement with the shareholders of Law Africa Publishing limited for the sale and purchase of 74 percent of the issued share capital,” Longhorn Managing Director Simon Ngungi said in a statement to shareholders.

Law Africa publishes legal content in both print and electronic books with operations in Uganda and Tanzania and serves governments, NGOs & legal institutions across the globe.

The acquisition is in line with Longhorn’s plans to diversify its products, with more focus on digital books and e learning material. The company plans to launch new products including story books and college textbooks as well as develop proprietary e-learning platforms as part of its drive towards digital educational content. The move is expected to help longhorn expand its market.
