The Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) has appointed Godfrey Kiptum as the Acting Commissioner of Insurance and Chief Executive Officer of the state agency replacing the long serving Sammy Makove, who is on terminal leave pending the expiry of his contract.
Makove is the first CEO of IRA and has served two terms, each made up of 4 years. Prior to the establishment of IRA, Mr. Makove was the Commissioner of Insurance at the then Department of Insurance in the Ministry of Finance.
Until his appointment as Acting CEO, Kiptum has been IRA’s Chief Manager for Human Capital Development and Admistration and has been in the public service for over 20 years. He holds an MBA from ESAMI/Maastricht MSM University is an Associate of the Life Management
Institute of USA (ALMI). He is also a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute of UK.
