Kenya is set to host this year’s China trade week expo at the end of the month.
The three-day event will kick off on 29th June to 1st of July at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) and is expected to attract over 400 Chinese firms across major industry sectors.
Speaking Wednesday while addressing journalists in Nairobi ahead of the conference, managing director of MIE Events David Wang said the conference will provide an opportunity for Kenyan entrepreneurs to meet, interact and transact business partnerships with their Chinese counterparts.
“The event will provide an opportunity for Kenyan entrepreneurs to grow strong business partnerships with Chinese firms and benefit from the industrial capacity and a wealth of knowledge, while sharing Kenyan business best practices,” he said, adding that the forum will also boost the two parties’ cultural and political ties.
The announcement comes in the wake of increased trade activities between the two countries.
Available figures show that as at2013, China’s cumulative direct investment in Kenya had soared to USD474million while bilateral trade volume had reached USD8.4billion the same year.
Currently Kenya imports is estimated at over USD14billion yearly which consists primarily machinery, transportation, equipment, petroleum products motor vehicles and plastics.
