Kenya: GAB bags best Islamic bank award

Sharia’h compliant bank, Gulf African bank (GAB) continues to hold top position as the best Islamic bank in the country. The bank was recognized as the best Islamic bank during the think business banking awards 2018 & 1st runners up for the best bank in tier iii.

The bank was also recognized as the best Islamic bank in east Africa by banker Africa, east Africa awards 2018 held a day earlier. GAB was also awarded two months earlier as the best Islamic bank in Kenya for 2017 by Islamic finance news awards, a highly recognized award by the global Islamic capital markets.

“We have started the year on a very strong note and this is a great recognition of our efforts so far.” Said gab’s managing director Abdalla Abdulkhalik.

“This is also motivation for us to continue working hard this year and improve service delivery to our customers since we would not be winning all these awards without their support.”

In the first quarter of 2018, the bank has launched multiple customer centric services including paperless banking launched in march, a partnership with law society of Kenya which allows lawyers to place short term deposits on tenures of 7, 10, 21 days together with the normal 30, 60, 90, 180 and 365 day deposits as well as a countrywide partnership with Kenya national chamber of commerce & industry where both parties committed to work together in capacity building & financing solutions for youth and women professionals and entrepreneurs in the SME sector.

The bank also opened its 17th branch in Luthuli Avenue, Nairobi, targeting the bustling downtown commerce community & improving financial inclusion. GAB will open two more branches in Mtwapa and Hurlingham this year.

Gulf African bank which is the longest serving Islamic bank in Kenya is currently celebrating 10 years in business. The bank will focus on innovative solutions that make it more convenient and easier for its customers to access services which benefit their personal & business financial needs.
