Kenya Airways suspends flights to Juba, South Sudan

Kenya Airways has suspended all flights to Juba, South Sudan following an eruption of unrest in the country.

The airline which operates 14 flights per week to the capital of Southern Sudan yesterday said in a statement that it had suspended all the flights plying that route following reports of violence.

The airline however said that it will continue to monitor the security situation in Juba and will advise ‘on any changes to its flight schedule.’

“The airline regrets any inconveniences to its guests following the announcement,” the company said in a statement.

More than 200 civilians have since been killed in the conflict pitting the incumbent president Salva Kiir and his first-deputy Riek Machar.
