In a sparkling comeback following a year of restoration, Kasbah Tamadot, the stunning Moroccan retreat owned by Sir Richard Branson, reopens its doors today in the breathtaking High Atlas Mountains.
The luxurious destination, part of Virgin Limited Edition’s exclusive collection, had been partially closed since a devastating earthquake impacted the region.
Renowned for its warm Berber hospitality—boasting a staff that is 100% Moroccan—Kasbah Tamadot is back and better than ever! The main building has been fully restored, and guests can now indulge in culinary delights at a brand-new restaurant, Asayss, alongside the introduction of six beautifully crafted Riads.
The reopening expands the property’s offerings from 28 to 42 rooms, each with awe-inspiring views of the majestic Atlas Mountains.
Reflecting on the challenges faced, Sir Richard Branson remarked, “It was heartbreaking to witness the destruction firsthand after the earthquake. Yet, the resilience and kindness of the Berber people during such trying times were truly inspiring. We vowed to bring back Kasbah Tamadot even stronger, and thanks to the tireless efforts of many, we’ve fulfilled that promise. I’m sure my mum would be as proud as I am of our new Riads.”
The community spirit shone brightly in the aftermath, as the hotel team and local Berber communities rallied to provide relief with the help of the Eve Branson Foundation, raising an impressive £1 million for the Earthquake Emergency Relief Fund.
Throughout the year, staff remained employed, and Berber Tents welcomed guests, ensuring tourism continued to support the region.
General Manager David Redouane Assabb shared his excitement, stating, “Kasbah Tamadot is an integral part of the High Atlas Mountains and its surrounding communities. We are overjoyed to announce the full reopening of the Kasbah and can’t wait to host returning and new guests. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported our communities this last year, making it possible for them to rebuild.”
The newly designed three-bedroom Riads, accommodating up to 10 guests, feature private bathrooms, lounge areas, and terraces. Guests can also revel in the spectacular Rooftop Tented Suite, which includes a hot tub for an unforgettable experience.
Each Riad is individually decorated with traditional Moroccan charm and offers luxurious amenities, bringing the renowned Berber hospitality right to their doorstep. Families and groups seeking privacy can book an entire Riad, ensuring a unique escape at one of Morocco’s most majestic locations.
To further elevate the stay, the Riads complement Kasbah Tamadot’s iconic luxury Berber Tents, each featuring private terraces ideal for outdoor dining.
Guests can unwind in the stunning infinity pool while soaking up panoramic views of the mountains. For those seeking adventure or relaxation, the hotel offers local spa treatments, traditional Hammam experiences, Moroccan cooking lessons, and guided hikes or bike rides through the captivating terrain.
Bookings are now open, with rates starting from MAD 45,100 for a three-bedroom Riad on a B&B basis, or MAD 7,200 for double occupancy in the hotel.
