FSDAi makes a US$2.5 million for nature-based solutions

FSD Africa Investments (FSDAi), the UK-backed specialist investor, has made its first direct investment in nature-based solutions, a US$2.5 million commitment to West Africa Blue’s mangrove restoration project in the Sherbro River Estuary, Sierra Leone.
This high-integrity blue carbon project spans over 94,000 hectares across 11 coastal chiefdoms and was announced by UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy. The project not only combats climate change and biodiversity loss, but also pioneers an equitable, community-led benefit-sharing model.
FSDAi’s catalytic investment helps de-risk the project and paves the way for scalable, commercially viable climate finance through carbon revenue—crucial in a region often overlooked by mainstream investors.
