Kuria is the former Group Managing Director of Co-operative Insurance Group (CIC) and has over 33 years’ experience in the financial services sector spanning banking, insurance, investments and co-operatives.
Having served on numerous boards in Kenya and internationally, his expertise in the financial sector coupled with his deep commitment to good corporate governance and ethics is expected to steer the recently rebranded Enwealth to achieve its target of expanding into the Region as well as the UK and US markets through mutually beneficial agreements.
Kuria is an economist from the University of Nairobi and has undergone extensive training in Strategic Management at Stanford University.
He has also received Presidential recognition (“Order of the Grand Warrior of Kenya”) for his contribution to the development of CIC and the co-operative movement in Kenya.
His qualifications include: Certified Public Accountants (FCPAK), fellow of the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries (FCPSK), Fellow of the Kenya Institute of Management (FKIM), former Deputy Chairman of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), and former Board Member of the Registration of Accountants of Kenya (RAB).
Amongst the most impressive qualifications that guaranteed Mr. Kuria as Enwealth’s Board Chair was a shared value system for social outreach. Currently, Enwealth Financial Services has cumulatively supported close 50 orphans through the high school support programme and plans to push this number upwards to 200 by 2020.
Steven Umidha is a data and financial journalist with over 14 years of work experience in journalism and communication.
He specialises in finance and economics reporting as well as on the causes, impacts, and solutions of global warming, conservation, pollution and sustainability, often blending scientific literacy with journalist ethics, while involving policy analysis and multimedia storytelling across various platforms in highlighting issues from biodiversity loss to ecological justice.
Besides being the Founder of Financial Fortune Media, Umidha has previously worked with the Standard Media Group, Mediamax Networks LTD, bird story agency, Business Journal Africa, and Financial Post among other outlets.
