Japanese multinational Casio Tuesday opened its first store in East Africa, 9 years following its unofficial entry into the Kenyan market through distributorship deals which the brand had sort to give the electronics firm more direct access to buyers of its mid to high-end watches.

“Top Time” CASIO dealer in Kenya, the new CASIO Store is meeting the increasing demand for their timepiece solutions in the market.

The store becomes the first in East Africa to cater to the growing demand for timepiece solutions and education in the market. The brand has positioned Africa as one of its priority markets and wants to expand its customer base through a wider East African reach.

In 2014 the Japanese conglomerate said it was seeking local distributors to push sales of its range of watches that include the G-Shock and Edifice series of sports, outdoor and luxury timepieces which cost up to $500 (Sh43,000).

The electronics manufacturing corporation, is optimistic that the Nairobi store will be a strategic point for their retail investment of their G-shock watches within the East Africa bloc.

Nairobi will be the hub for the supply of their products within the East African states such as Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, and Rwanda among others, and will popularize Casio products and expand its customer base by addressing the needs of users in Kenya and the wider East African region.

Casio is also planning to open four dedicated shops as a one-stop shop for the delivery of their products and services to buyers in the country.
