The Radiant Group of Hospitals (RGHs) has announced a long-term plan to modernise its healthcare facilities to meet surging demand for advanced medical services, driven by a rapidly growing population, rising medical inflation, and the government’s expanding push towards Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
The hospital’s management said the move is part of a wider strategy to continue its long-standing mantra of providing world-class healthcare services at reasonable costs.
Speaking during a team-building event for its employees in Karatina, Nyeri County, the Group’s Chief Executive, Salome Chiira, said the new approach will essentially see the hospital brand upgrade its clinical capabilities, integrate advanced digital systems, and build new tech-driven medical complexes capable of rivaling its global peers.
“To achieve this, we will first need to have a cohesive team across all cadres working together towards a clear-cut strategy laid out by the Group as we forge forward in offering quality and affordable healthcare,” said Ms. Chiira.
Adding that, the new approach is also designed to streamline the way its five branches, namely, Pangani, Kasarani, Umoja and Kiambu outlets, are presently structured, helping the entire ecosystem move forward efficiently while ensuring each facility continues to meet the needs of its local community.
To achieve this, the Group’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr. Felix Wanjala, noted that while the group is not expanding in terms of outlet numbers, it is instead looking to enrich its customer or patient experience, improve the range of services offered across all four branches, and equip its medical staff through training and other relevant services.
“What we are presently looking at is enriching these four hospitals; we want the services to be seamless. We want to be the local referral hospital of choice,” said Dr. Wanjala.
The announcement by RGHs comes even as the country prepares to host thousands of healthcare professionals, medical technology companies, policymakers, and investors in Nairobi from 16 to 18 September for the World Health Expo (WHX) Nairobi 2026.
The exhibition, formerly known as Medic East Africa, will be held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC). Organizers expect more than 5,500 healthcare professionals, over 200 international exhibitors, and delegates from more than 30 countries.
The event comes as African countries, including Kenya, accelerate efforts to modernize healthcare systems, expand access to quality medical technologies, strengthen local pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing, and embrace digital health solutions to meet rising demand for healthcare services.
Healthcare experts like Salome Chiira, also the founder of Radiant Group of Hospitals, say regional medical exhibitions are becoming increasingly important as East African countries continue to invest in universal health coverage, strengthen diagnostic capacity and build more resilient health systems following lessons from recent global health emergencies like the disreputable Coronavirus 2019 pandemic.
Beyond the exhibition floor, WHX Nairobi is expected to facilitate business-to-business meetings between international manufacturers and regional distributors, while allowing hospitals and healthcare institutions to evaluate emerging technologies before making procurement decisions.
Indeed, several medical, pharmaceutical, and local healthcare firms are shifting from a mindset of survival to long-term scalability, driven by ever-changing care dynamics, policy changes, and technological leaps as seen today, with major hospital brands outlining growth blueprints designed to protect margins and aggressively expand market share.
