Barclays Bank of Kenya has partnered with the Postal Corporation of Kenya (PCK) which will see Barclays customers access the bank’s services through PCK’s 400 outlets across the country.

Following this move, Barclays’ customers will now be able to make both card based and cash less deposits, card based withdrawals, balance enquiries, bill payments and access mini statements from PCK outlets.

Additionally, the PCK outlets will act as collection points for money sent through the Barclays Cash Send service.

The roll out will take on a phased approach. In the immediate term, Barclays’ customers will access 182 outlets while the remaining 218 outlets will become accessible by the end of the year.

Jeremy Awori, the Managing Director, Barclays  Kenya said that the move will greatly value convenience and ease-of-service.

“Customers will be able to carry out transactions through the agency network and hence reduce the need to visit the branches.  Moreover, with Posta network across the country, Barclays banking services will be more accessible to populations outside main urban areas,” he added.

Barclays has a network of 121 branches spread throughout the country and its customers rely on the bank’s Branch and ATM Network and Digital channels to carry out their banking transactions.

Barclays is celebrating its 100th year in Kenya and plans to sustain growth in the coming years by ramping up its existing businesses while doubling focus on SMEs, Women, Youth and Innovation.

PCK Postmaster General, Dr. Enock Kinara said that the partnership with the Bank will be a drive to a one stop shop for modern and technology oriented products and services for a sustained business growth going forward.

Posta also has an agency banking deal with KCB, National Bank of Kenya and Chase Bank. The deals are expected to shore up Posta’s dwindling revenues.
