The Week 44 Avobook Report shows that avocado shipments to Europe have increased by 17% compared to the previous week, just as origins like Spain and Morocco, which are starting their season, are expected to arrive.
Currently, Chilean fruit leads with 53% of the market, followed by Colombia (19%) and Israel (11%), which is expected to grow in the coming weeks.
Prices are dropping for smaller sizes in Amsterdam.
The U.S. market is dominated by Mexico (98%), with California and Peru out of the picture, and Chile holding a 1.2% share. Both suppliers declined compared to the previous week, explaining the 9% drop in total volume. Larger sizes are the only ones spared from a massive price drop.
Only a small amount of fruit reached China (19 containers), mostly from Chile, and the arrival volume remains significantly lower than at the same date in 2023 (-46%), reflecting the trend seen throughout the year.
