African Airlines Association, (AFRAA) Thursday announced the attainment of International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2008 certification.
This makes it the only association globally to acquire the document. ISO 9001:2008 is an international standard which is widely known and internationally accepted model for a quality management system which majorly focuses on performance, strong customer focus, motivation and implication of top leadership, the process approach, and continual improvement and review of an organization.
Speaking while making the announcement, AFRAA Secretary General FRAA, Elijah Chingoso said the certification attainment signifies the credibility of the association as it streamlines the procedures of operation aimed at serving its member airlines effectively.
“It couldn’t come at a right time especially now when airlines are creating an uneven playing field, currently 82 per cent of the airlines are non African carriers, this puts air transport beyond the reach of African people, we should open African skies,” said Chingosho.
