Recruitment and human resource solution firm, Brighter-Monday, has called for inclusivity from employers to drive the labor market growth.
The firm made those calls during a pre-labor day breakfast meeting which brought together several HR practitioners and C-Suite Managers to discuss the topic “Improving Diversity and Inclusivity at the Workplace.”
It comes amid Labour Day celebrations which aim to highlight the importance of labour rights and social justice.
Recent statistics from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics indicate that the unemployment rate in Kenya stands at 7.7 percent, with persons living with disabilities being the most affected.
The event featured three notable guest speakers, who shared their perspectives and experiences on various aspects of diversity and inclusivity. Dorcas Nderitu, Co-founder of Women in HR, spoke on “Diversity and Inclusion at the Workplace – Gender”, highlighting the need for more women in leadership positions and the importance of creating a gender-inclusive workplace.
James Maina, Executive Director of Daima Trust Ltd, shared his insights of “Diversity and Inclusion at the Workplace – PWD”, focusing on the challenges that people with disabilities face in the workplace and the importance of creating an environment that is accessible and supportive.
Crystal Asige, a Nominated Senator, spoke on “How Companies Can Leverage Government to Drive Change within their Organisations and More,” calling for diversity and inclusivity and shared examples of how companies can work with the government to drive positive change.
“I believe that the discussion on diversity and inclusion is not just a trendy subject, but essential elements for creating a truly equitable and just society.
As someone with a platform, I hope to use my voice to amplify marginalized voices and make a real difference in the world. We all have a responsibility to do our part in creating a world where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.” said Chris Otundo, CEO BrighterMonday Kenya.
BrighterMonday believes that improving diversity and inclusivity in the workplace is crucial for businesses to thrive. As such, the company’s matching solution is designed to help employers find candidates from diverse backgrounds who are best suited for the job.
By doing so, BrighterMonday hopes to contribute to creating more diverse and inclusive workplaces, where everyone feels valued and can contribute their unique perspectives and skills.
This event also served as an opportunity for the HR fraternity to get a glimpse of revolutionary talent matching solution features by BrighterMonday that will soon be launched.
These new features will help reduce hiring time through an AI-driven candidate ranking solution as well as a recommendation engine to trigger quality talent to apply for the listed positions.
