WTTC, VFS Global Launch Initiative to Empower Travel SMEs

The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has announced the launch of its Together in Travel initiative, aimed at empowering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the global travel industry.

VFS Global, a leader in technological innovation and market expansion, has joined as a Founding Partner, bringing its extensive network spanning over 150 countries.

WTTC, representing over 200 companies with a combined turnover of $1 trillion, emphasizes the critical role SMEs play in driving innovation and sustainable growth.

VFS Global’s expertise will support SMEs in navigating the evolving travel ecosystem, focusing on cost-effective growth and sustainable development. The initiative also encourages partnerships with local enterprises, women-owned businesses, and indigenous communities to foster inclusive economic development.

Julia Simpson, WTTC President & CEO, expressed enthusiasm about VFS Global’s involvement, highlighting their global network and industry leadership.

She also welcomed Andrea Grisdale, Founder & CEO of IC Bellagio, as Vice Chair, bringing her extensive experience in luxury travel to the initiative.

Grisdale emphasized the initiative’s role in providing SMEs with tools, resources, and support to thrive and shape a sustainable future for global travel.

Zubin Karkaria, VFS Global’s Founder & CEO, outlined the initiative’s vision to empower SMEs through access to global markets, specialized training, digital transformation tools, and sustainable practices.

The initiative is supported by a diverse group of industry leaders, including Accor, Microsoft, Virtuoso, and others, each contributing their expertise to build a resilient and inclusive travel sector.
