Top KCSE Candidates earn scholarships to study abroad
Mr. Omar Mohamed, the event’s coordinator and the Country manager for SI-UK stated that this year’s annual mathematics contest was meant to bring together learners across the country to share their experiences in the area of Mathematics and boost their confidence.
Three KCSE students from the Kenya High School, Mang’u and the Alliance high schools were awarded various scholarships to study abroad following their prowess in an annual mathematics competition held at the Kenya High School in which 231 schools took part.
Becky Shania – a form four student from the Kenya High school was declared the overall winner of the secondary school’s mathematics competition in which over 2,000 students from different students participated. Mangu’s Shadrack Maingi emerged second while Vincentino Ongwae from the Alliance boys’ school was awarded third position.
The three consequently won 100, 75 and 50 percent respectively academic scholarships to study international foundation courses at the International University Pathways College (IUPC) as a gateway to furthering their education abroad. IUPC is a state-of-the-art educational institution established in 2021, to offer the NCUK International Foundation Year certification.
Other sponsors were the United Kingdom’s Swansea University and the event sponsors SI-UK.
