Cabinet Secretary for Trade and Industry Adan Mohamed has said Singapore will open a Trade facilitation and Investment Promotion office in Kenya next year.
This was confirmed during a meeting with Singapore’s Trade and Industry Minister for Lim Hng Kiang in Singapore today. Dubbed the “International Enterprise Singapore,” the office in Kenya will aim to facilitate trade and investments in Agribusiness, infrastructure, services amongst others.
Kenya and Singapore are also pursuing double taxation and air service agreements as a way of facilitating trade and investments between the two countries. Kenya’s growing investment competitiveness has been a key factor in attracting capital from both domestic and foreign investors.
“Singapore is keen to trade with Kenya and East Africa in General and we welcome the move to have the office based in Nairobi. It goes to confirm Kenya’s place as a regional hub that is central in facilitating trade and investments,” said Adan.
The office that will be a first in fostering business relations between the two countries. He was speaking when he met the Singapore Minister ahead of the Kenya-Singapore investment Roundtable in Singapore
