The Kenyan Indian community from all walks converged Saturday night at Nairobi’s Concord Hotel to witness the prestigious occasion graced by Indian Deputy High Commissioner Rajesh Swami.

The colorful event was organised by Go Places Africa Limited, a Kenyan Events and Tours and Travel company.

Miss India Worldwide Kenya is mooted by the IFC in New York City, a pioneer organization for conducting Indian pageants and fashion shows in the US and the world over.

Go Places Africa says this is the most glamorous Indian function where Indian contestants from all over Kenya will be competing, adding that the aim of this year’s contest is to have not only the Indian community but the local and expatriate communities living in Kenya to enjoy Kenyan beauty and route for their favorite.

The current Miss India Kenya Aliza Rajan is the National Director and official organizer together with Shazia, doing it through Go Places Africa in collaboration with Eventique Limited.

Eventique Limited is set to bring the Miss India Worldwide Pageant for Kenya on Saturday June 4th 2016, according to Ms Rajan.

Speaking at the Media launch at Nairobi’s Concord Hotel on Saturday night, Shazia said, “We are very excited as this year we have close to thirty participants who will go through a professional training from the 16th of May to the 1st of June 2016, including choreography, grooming, pageant walking and specialized workshops with our sponsors including a make-up training on the 28th of May done by Madora (a cosmetics company) and the upscale Paris-based line, Black-Up, known for its range of professional quality make-up.”

In addition, the Miss India Worldwide Kenya Pageant will be supporting the Women for Cancer (W4C) Initiative, aimed at raising public awareness on the benefits of early cancer screening, facilitate early detection and treatment to reduce cancer prevalence in the country.

The Board Chair and Co-founder of Women 4 Cancer said, “I am very happy to be associated with Miss India Worldwide Kenya 2016 and through the great support by Eventique and Global Image Group we will be able to enhance Cancer advocacy, community awareness and education by spreading the word through this great campaign.”

Miss India Worldwide Kenya will be hosting a workshop of all contestants on the 21st of May at the Concord Hotel, with the idea of sensitizing the girls on the Cancer initiative towards becoming brand ambassadors and advocates of the noble campaign.

The girl who will emerge the winner is set to go on an all-expenses-paid trip to New York to represent Kenya in the Miss India Worldwide Silver Jubilee Global Pageant.

The talent show will be going down on the 2nd of June at the Concord Hotel, the one and only hospitality partner.
