Saudia Group Signs Deal with Airbus to Acquire up to 20 A330neo Wide-Body Aircraft

Saudia Group has announced a new aircraft deal with Airbus, expanding its fleet with up to 20 new wide-body A330neo aircraft.

The agreement includes 10 firm orders for flyadeal, the Group’s low-cost carrier, with deliveries scheduled between 2027 and 2029.

The A330neo, renowned for its efficiency, long range, and versatility, aligns with Saudia Group’s strategy to broaden its operational reach and expand its destination network.

The signing ceremony took place at the Airbus factory in Toulouse, France, attended by H.E. Engr. Ibrahim Al-Omar, Director General of Saudia Group, and Christian Scherer, CEO of the Commercial Aircraft business.

The deal was signed by Saleh Eid, Saudia Group’s Vice President of Fleet Management, and Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus’s Executive Vice President of Sales for Commercial Aircraft.

H.E. Engr. Ibrahim Al-Omar said that the deal is a pivotal milestone in their strategy to modernize and expand their fleet, building on last year’s historic agreement with Airbus for 105 aircraft.

“It supports Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to connect 250 destinations and serve over 330 million travelers and 150 million tourists by 2030.”

“This acquisition will enhance our operations, modernize our fleet, and improve maintenance efficiency, driving our growth and competitiveness,” He added.

Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Executive Vice President of Sales for the Commercial Aircraft business at Airbus noted that the order marks a significant step in advancing Saudi Arabia’s aviation ambitions, unlocking long-haul markets and attracting new customers.

“The A330neo’s versatility, efficiency, and passenger experience will support Saudia Group’s strategic growth and solidify their position as a global aviation leader.”

Saudia Group currently operates a fleet of 194 aircraft, serving commercial aviation, cargo operations, and logistics services.

The Group is set for significant expansion, with 191 new aircraft scheduled for delivery in the coming years. This expansion will further support national economic growth and contribute to key strategic initiatives and major events aimed at bringing the world to Saudi Arabia.
