Nairobi Hospital eye Athi River Clinic as launch pad to Counties

The Nairobi Hospital has announced conclusive plans to set up a satellite out-patient clinic in Athi River, Machakos County to keep up with the demand for quality healthcare in the suburban counties.

This will be the first such satellite clinic outside Nairobi City County and will be located at Crystal Rivers, a Sh 4.3billion flagship commercial and residential complex currently being developed by the Safaricom Staff Pension Scheme just after the Athi River interchange on Mombasa Road. It brings the total number of clinics in Nairobi and its suburbs to seven.

The hospital’s Chief executive Gordon Odundo said that its expansive new facility, occupying more than 10,000 square feet, is being established in line with the corporate strategic drive to make its medical services more accessible away from the main hospital.

“We also recognize that there is latent demand for a quality medical facility along Mombasa Road where we expect our clinic to annually serve at least half a million residents of the area,” said Odundo.

The facility will be a state-of-the art, fully-fledged 24-hour outpatient centre designed to cater for all outpatient needs for the entire family offering a variety of services including Accident and Emergency services, Advanced level diagnostic services – including Laboratory and Radiology services with CT scanning, X-ray and Ultrasound as well as, paediatric services, and a comprehensively stocked and affordable pharmacy.  The patient care at The Nairobi Hospital Crystal Rivers outpatient centre will be at par with offered at the main hospital.
