Mugo Kibati, Aly-Khan Satchu and Janet Mbugua Joins League Of Top African Speakers

East Africa’s pre-eminent speaker bureau, African Speakers and Artists (AS+A) has unveiled three new signings as it builds its portfolio of East African speakers and artistes for the global market.

The latest additions to AS+A’s talent roster are Mugo Kibati, the Group CEO of Pan Africa Insurance Holdings and former Director General of the Vision 2030 secretariat, investment banker turned financial markets analyst and commentator, Aly-Khan Satchu, and celebrity television news anchor, Janet Mbugua.

These three prominent names join other senior business leaders and artistes from across Africa who have been signed up this year by AS+A, launched in June 2015. Other names include Erik Hersman, technologist and founder of Ushahidi and BRCK, Ashish Thakkar, founder and CEO of Mara Group, Bethlehem Tilahun Alemu, founder and CEO of SoleRebels Footwear, and popular music group, Sauti Sol.

As he unveiled the latest signings, Founder and CEO of AS+A, George Issaias commented: “I’m very excited to welcome Aly Khan Satchu, Mugo Kibati and Janet Mbugua to AS+A. They represent some of the most successful, creative, and innovative personalities in their respective fields, and each have globally relevant stories to share.”

Aly-Khan Satchu is the CEO of Rich Management Limited and a common fixture on many local and international media outlets where his insights around economic issues, investments and financial markets are highly sought after.

Born in Mombasa, he studied Law at the University of Durham and worked for 15 years in the City Of London. The prolific writer and media commentator enjoys a huge following on Twitter and is a published author of Anyone Can Be Rich.

Mugo Kibati has a strong track record in both business and public sector leadership. Besides being the Group CEO of Pan Africa Insurance Holdings, he also chairs the board of the Lake Turkana Wind Power Project. Previously, he served as the Director General of the Kenya Vision 2030 Delivery Secretariat. Prior to joining the Government, Mugo was Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of East African Cables.

He sits on several corporate boards and has held top industry leadership positions including at the Federation of Kenya Employers, the Kenya Association of Manufacturers and the Kenya Private Sector Alliance.

Mugo has an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from Moi University, a Masters in Technology Management from MIT and an MBA (Business Finance) from the George Washington University including coursework at Oxford University. Honored as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum, Mugo is also a Fellow of the African Leadership Initiative and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.

Janet Mbugua started her career, aged 19 on Nairobi’s Capital FM. The Malaysia-trained journalist has hosted shows and anchored prime-time news KTN, working as News Anchor, Reporter and Producer, as well as part-time host of the Pan-African Current Affairs show, Africa 360 on Johannesburg-based eTV.

She was named among the 2015 Business Daily Top 40 under 40 women in Kenya and listed amongst Kenya’s top 100 movers and shakers by Drum Magazine East Africa in 2014.

She was also named among the top three best News Anchors in Kenya by the Media Council of Kenya. Janet is a Mentor with the Africa Leadership Academy (ALA) in South Africa. She is setting up a Big Sister Mentorship program for young girls and women and is the founder of The Janet Collection, a Lifestyle and Empowerment brand that merges fine quality clothing with community projects, using the line as an empowerment tool for vulnerable youth
