Mexico is the largest producer of avocados worldwide. In 2022, the production output surpassed 2.5 million metric tons, representing an increase of 92 percent since 2012. About 73 percent of all avocados produced in Mexico are produced in the western state of Michoacán, while another 12 percent is produced in Jalisco.

n Week 34 of the North American market, Mexico consolidated its leadership as the main avocado supplier (61% market share), while California took second place with local fruit.
Peru continued to slightly decrease its volume, and Colombia, for the first time since Week 15, fell below 2 million pounds per week.
Chile, which began its season at a slow pace due to the cold, managed to send the same number of containers to Europe and the United States, but a rebound is expected in the coming weeks. Large sizes maintained stable prices, but prices dropped for almost all smaller sizes.
In Europe, Peru continues to dominate exports, accounting for 80% of the 588 containers that arrived, followed by South Africa (13%). Colombia and Kenya registered low volumes, while Chile, despite starting its season early, has yet to make a significant impact in this market. In terms of prices, Europe showed stability, with a slight increase in large sizes in Spain.
In China, avocado imports remained low compared to the previous year, but with higher prices for smaller sizes.
