Kenmart Africa has launched an online business platform targeting online shoppers.
The new online market place to be hosted as www.kenmartafrica.com is set to put the company in direct competition with companies like Jumia, Kilimall, and Dakikaonline rupu as well asamazon.com and alibaba.com firms.
The business which started as a print directory will target thousands of merchants subscribing on the book to sell online.
“The website called marketplace is just a platform to make merchants sell online as individual just like. Ours is different because we allow merchants to have their own dashboard and page.
We make it easier for them to sell within one platform because setting up their own online website is expensive and costly to maintain. They will also enjoy a high traffic of browsers who are searching for various products and a free publicity,” said the firm.
Kenmart said it is targeting over 5000 card merchants across the country to be the sellers, saying the reason is motivated by the fact that, “our payment gateway is through the cards and this merchants are well vetted and understand the card market very well.”
The firm further said the use of cards would limit complaints and level of returned items.
