Kengen extends Mugo stay at the power firm

The Board of Directors of Kenya Electricity Generating Company Ltd (KenGen) Wednesday announced the re-appointment of the Managing Director and CEO, Eng Albert Mugo for a further period of one year with effect from January 4, 2017.

Mugo is a professional engineer who has extensive experience in the Energy Sector across the value chain including production, project management, power system planning, financing and tariff formulation.

Since his appointment as Managing Director & CEO of KenGen in January 2014, Eng Mugo has steered the Company in the growth of generation capacity in Geothermal and Wind to the current KenGen installed total capacity of 1,640MW which is about 70 per cent of the national generating capacity.

“He will be overseeing a number of new projects which are at various stages of development starting with 140MW Olkaria V geothermal project whose construction is expected to start this month,” said Kengen Chairman Joshua Choge.
