Japanese multinational Casio is opening its first store in Nairobi today and a first in East Africa, barely 9 years following its entry into the Kenyan market through distributorship deals that gives the electronics firm more direct access to buyers of its mid to high-end watches.
The store will be the first in East Africa to cater to the growing demand for timepiece solutions and education in the market. The brand has positioned Africa as one of its priority markets and wants to expand its customer base through a wider East African reach.
In 2014 the Japanese conglomerate says it is seeking local distributors to push sales of its range of watches that include the G-Shock and Edifice series of sports, outdoor and luxury timepieces which cost up to $500 (Sh43,000).
The official opening is taking place today, June 20, 2023.
