Awori Foundation holds a free Medical Camp in Busia

Awori Foundation held a free Medical Camp at the Holy family Nangina mission hospital in Funyula, Busia County.

More than 1000 patients were diagnosed and treated for various medical conditions for free by teams of Doctors and healthcare  workers from Kenya including a team from Hamptons hospital in Butere, and a team of international doctors from USA and Canada.

The event was graced by former Vice President Moody Awori who congratulated the healthcare professionals including the Hamptons hospital team for the great partnership with Awori foundation in the provision of free medical services to the community.

Awori foundation was founded by Dr. Jonathan Awori and his Architect wife Anne Awori and has a mission to empower African individuals and families through innovative health, education and community infrastructure initiatives that foster resilience and dignity.

Dr. Jonathan Awori is following into footsteps of his late father Dr. Nelson Awori who was among the first pioneers of doctors to perform the first kidney transplant in Kenya in 1984 at Kenyatta National hospital. The late Dr. Nelson  Awori is a brother to Former Vice President Moody Awori.

The free medical camp was held from Tuesday August 12th until Thursday August 14th, 2025 and achieved great success and provided quality healthcare to the community.

” This inaugural free medical camp will enhance dignity and well being of our community”. Said  the strong and healthy 98 year old former Vice President Moody Awori. He encouraged the community to adopt healthier lifestyles that will prolong their lives. ” We are also happy to see Hamptons hospital from Butere partner with Awori foundation on this great cause”. He added.

Hamptons hospital team of doctors and nurses helped to treat hundreds of local residents at the medical camp.

Founded by US based Kenyan tycoon Julius Mwale, Hamptons hospital at Mwale Medical and Technology City  (MMTC) in Butere opened in 2019, and treats Kenyans and medical tourists. Kenyans with SHA are treated without paying extra co-payment charges.

The hospital has become an anchor for medical services in the Western Kenyan region. MMTC is expanding into 12 countries in Africa operating 18 smart city locations by 2050.

The success of the medical camp is a boost for the Awori foundation.  Some of other Awori Foundation board members include Dr. Malaika Awori-Gunther based in Canada and Drs. Heather & Awori Hayanga in West Virginia USA.
