Sophos named a Leader in the 2024 IDC MarketScape

According to the IDC MarketScape report, Sophos boasts one of the largest global MDR businesses, protecting more customers than any other service.

Sophos has been recognized as a Leader in the IDC MarketScape: European Managed Detection and Response (MDR) Services 2024 Vendor Assessment, according to the latest report released in September 2024.

This evaluation assesses the capabilities and strategies of managed detection and response vendors operating in Europe, positioning Sophos firmly within the Leaders Category.

This accolade follows Sophos’s prior recognition as an MDR Leader in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Managed Detection and Response (MDR) Services 2024 Vendor Assessment, published in April 2024 (doc # US49006922).

With decades of experience in cybersecurity, Sophos has developed significant expertise in understanding and responding to cyberattacks affecting enterprise infrastructures.

The company has been actively enhancing its MDR services since 2019, marked by strategic acquisitions and a focus on assembling a team of skilled security analysts. A key feature of Sophos’s offering is its unmetered and unlimited incident response service, which sets it apart in the market.

According to the IDC MarketScape report, Sophos boasts one of the largest global MDR businesses, protecting more customers than any other service.

The report highlights that Sophos serves over 23,000 MDR customers worldwide, including more than 5,000 unique clients in Europe by the end of 2023. The majority of these clients are small organizations with fewer than 250 employees.

The IDC evaluation also emphasizes Sophos’s commitment to European data residency, stating that telemetry is processed in the region where customer accounts are provisioned. In Europe, the company operates within the UK, Ireland, and German AWS regions.

Sophos provides 24/7 support through its highly skilled threat analysts located in the UK, Ireland, and Germany, along with dedicated teams in North America, India, and Australia.

Incident response capabilities are identified as a significant differentiator for any MDR service, and Sophos delivers this through two service tiers: MDR Complete and MDR Essentials. The MDR Complete package features a unique, unmetered incident response service designed to eliminate threats. In contrast, the MDR Essentials tier offers flexibility with a Threat Response service aimed at halting and containing active attacks, with optional Incident Response (IR) retainers available for clients seeking further coverage.

Both tiers include continuous expert-led investigation and threat hunting.

Moreover, the IDC MarketScape notes Sophos’s strategic partnerships, including a recent collaboration with Tenable to launch Sophos Managed Risk, a new vulnerability and attack surface management service. This partnership aims to enhance operational collaboration between MDR and vulnerability management through comprehensive reporting and prioritization of vulnerabilities.

Additionally, Sophos reinforces its commitment to small businesses by integrating its MDR and XDR offerings with Google Workspace, providing this service at no extra cost for users operating outside of Microsoft environments.
