Isuzu EA acquires sole distributorship rights for UD Trucks in Kenya

Auto dealer Isuzu East Africa (EA) has aquired sole distributorship rights to sell UD Trucks in Kenya, with the deal also expected to see the Mombasa-based vehicle maker assemble and offer sales, and after-sales service s on behalf of the Japanese commercial vehicle solutions provider.

Speaking at a media event held at its Nairobi premises, Isuzu East Africa’s Managing Director, Rita Kavashe, said the move was a strategic deal for its portfolio.

“We understand commercial vehicles and their applications as a key player in the industry. Isuzu East Africa is also a strong and trusted automotive distributor in the region and has been the overall market leader for 12 consecutive years. This offers UD customers assurance of the support they will receive from Isuzu East Africa,” she explained.

Common UD Trucks brands in Kenyainclude ‘Ndovu’ for the CW450 and ‘Nyati’ for the PKB.

“Under this partnership, Isuzu East Africa’s aim is to ensure that UD Trucks customers not only benefit from high-quality products but also receive necessary support from a dedicated distributor,” she said.

“We shall assembly trucks locally here in Kenya, and we’re going to start assembling at KVM, and for sure, there will be more jobs that will be created at KVM as we continue to expand and deepen the use of these trucks in our market to extremely support the growth of UD trucks here in Kenya,” the Isuzu East Africa MD added.

Mourad Hedna, president, UD Trucks MEENA (Middle East, East, and North Africa Region), expressed confidence in Isuzu East Africa’s ability to provide excellent support to UD Trucks customers.

“I’m confident that with our Japanese brand heritage, our latest Euro 5 range covering from 10 to 80 tons, and the dedication and expertise of Isuzu East Africa, we will have one of the most competitive offers for our customers in Kenya, bringing back our strong and long legacy,” he added.

Isuzu East Africa’s Chairman, Hiroshi Hisatomi, said that Isuzu EA’s partnership with UD Trucks was yet another demonstration of the strong relationships built with customers over the years.
