GTBank Kenya eyes unbanked in a new pact with Posta

Guaranty Trust Bank Kenya (GTBank) Wednesday signed a strategic partnership with the Postal Corporation of Kenya (PCK) to enhance accessibility of banking services to its customers.

The deal will see GTBank agency outlets operated under the brand “GTExpress”, offering user friendly banking experience through its trained agents, with its customers also benefitting from GTBank’s robust digital infrastructure, ensuring all transactions are conducted at the agency outlets are real time and secure.

It will further see services like cash deposit, cash withdrawal, funds transfer via Pesalink, and digital collection of account opening data.

Speaking during the contract signing ceremony, Jubril Adeniji, Managing Director of Guaranty Trust Bank Kenya, said: “This partnership with Posta marks a major milestone in our commitment to bringing banking closer to Kenyans., In addition to enhancing financial inclusion in the Country, we shall be leveraging technology and Posta’s extensive nationwide network in making lives of Kenyans easier, while accessing financial services.

Adding that, the bank will continuously train and support the agency personnel to uphold the Bank’s high standards of service delivery.

Postmaster General/ Chief Executive Officer, Mr. John Kipyegon Tonui who equally expressed his enthusiasm regarding the partnership with GTBank Kenya.

“This marks a milestone in our journey to expand financial inclusion and enhance service delivery through strategic partnerships. This partnership demonstrates GTBank’s confidence in Posta’s capacity to meet their expectation in provision and delivery of efficient services to customers. We look forward to a successful pilot phase, and to scaling this initiative further in the near future, ensuring that more Kenyans, regardless of their location, are able to benefit from accessible banking solutions,” he said.

The pact will also see GTBank agents stationed at Posta outlets across the country, providing essential banking services to Kenyans.

Through this initiative, GTBank Kenya aims to make everyday banking services more accessible for all, ensuring that more people across the country can conveniently access the financial services they need.

The rollout will commence with fifty (50) locations in May, and increase to over 500 outlets over the next 2 years. By the end of 2027, GTBank agents will be available at all Posta locations nationwide, ensuring broader reach and convenience for customers across the country.
