Emirates imposes new fuel surcharge to its flyers

Dubai’s flagship carrier, Emirates Wednesday announced a new fuel surcharge in a bid to cushion escalating global oil prices.

The new surcharge will take effect from October, 1.

“Please be advised Emirates Airlines is increasing its fares effective 01 October 2018. The increase will be on fare and fuel surcharge for tickets issued on or after 01st Oct 2018. For Destination Dubai fare will increase by 10 per cent on Economy Class only,” reads a statement from the airline.

A fuel surcharge is a way of adjusting the amount paid to move freight by taking into account significant variation in fuel prices, compared to historical levels. It is a method for sharing or transferring risk. Most carriers and shippers participate in a fuel program of some kind.
