Kenyan learners seeking higher education and advanced studies are looking for study – abroad opportunities out of dissatisfaction with the domestic education system.
This has been heightened as university across the country grapple with uncertainty, delays and confusion surrounding their funding in the controversial new model.
Applications to study overseas particularly in the United Kingdom (UK) have soared since the release of Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) according to Omar Mohamed, the Country Director of Si -UK – a study abroad firm, with Bachelors’ degrees and Master’s programmes in engineering, business and law, being the primary choice for Kenyan learners.
Further, Mohamed says that in the era of 21st Century education, the possibility of studying abroad has branched out into an endless loop of foreign opportunities.
He was speaking during a higher education fair organized by Si-UK in partnership with various UK – based universities and secondary schools across various Counties.
Young Kenyans are fast adjusting to the concept better now as the country progresses into its educational revolution.
While foreign institutions continue to shift their outreach with programmes in campuses built within partnering countries, many parents are unbothered by the high cost of studying abroad owing to the exciting fantasy of an overseas education.
